‘Royal Crescent’
The Royal Crescent is one of Bath’s most iconic landmarks and was build between 1767 and 1775 and designed by John Wood the Younger. The impressive landmark is often captured from the front, but in Michael Sutherland’s painting we can see the higglety-pigglety nature of the rear, gardens and surrounding streets, sitting in stark contrast to the orderly Georgian sweep of the front facade.
